French and German Cuisine
Artisan Bistro
We also enjoyed the Artisan Foie Gras Terrine, toasted brioche, balsamic, kumquat and red grape carpaccio which was delicious. Definitely have the Steamed PEI Mussels with spicy fried garlic, tomatoes, parsley, shallots, sherry. It had an excellent broth.
Baume Restaurant
Dining in Palo Alto has just achieved a new level with the addition of Baume. Restaurateur and Executive Chef Bruno Chemel who has received stars and accolades from Michelin, The New York Times and Five Star Ratings brings his signature “Molecular Gastronomy” to Palo Alto.
Bijou Restaurant & Bar
There’s a new restaurant in Hayward that serves California/ French Cuisine called Bijou which means “A Little Gem” in French. The restaurant owned by Benjamin Young and Phillip Chan has a crisp, chic, modern décor.
Bistro Central Parc
We always enjoy being one of the first to try a new restaurant, so we can report on it to our readers. Bistro Central Parc is a new Bistro in San Francisco that serves tasty French fare with California influences made with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced sustainable raised and organic ingredients.
Café Europe
The Tastes of Bavaria
Freshly grated Potatoes, with onions and herbs. Served with pplesauce and sour cream –Crisp and light- Absolutely perfect!

Chevalier Restaurant
We love French Cuisine and were thrilled to hear about Chevalier which is in Lafayette and has been open for almost two years. As we entered, we were greeted by Executive Chef-Owner Philippe Chevalier who was born in Vendee, France.

Chez Papa Bistrot
We have dined at Chez Papa many times and always feel right at home. Actually, when asked to recommend an intimate fun restaurant in San Francisco we normally say “Try Chez Papa on Potrero Hill.” It is the quintessential French bistro with a casual interior, comfortable red chairs and metal tables

De Schmire Restaurant
De Schmire Restaurant has been pleasing diners in Petaluma for over two decades. We started our dining experience by ordering Michel Servin Brut Champagne from Vallet in France.

La Provence Cuisine Soleil
For a Main Course you’ll enjoy the Soupe de Poissons Canebiere, which is a homemade soup of clams, shrimp, codfish, scallops, and anglerfish perfumed with saffron, tarragon with “rouille” crouton. It had an excellent broth and inspired us to make a similar dish at home.

You can also tell how good a French bistro is by way they prepare Mussels. Here they lived up to our expectations, they were perfectly cooked and the broth of wine, butter and garlic was fabulous. The entrée that we loved was the Filet of Beef Rossini topped with Foie Gras and Truffle Oil.
Le Colonial
We have enjoyed dining at Le Colonial on Cosmo Place many times over the past twelve years. So, we were quite pleased to hear that they started to serve Weekend Brunch. Their A La Carte menu created by Executive Chef Joe Villanueva features contemporary twists on traditional Vietnamese French Cuisine.
Left Bank
The Left Bank Brasserie has been in Larkspur for over 15 years serving French Bistro fare. As restaurants mature local tastes change those that adapt evolve and grow. Bay Area residents love French cuisine but are also drawn to other European Style Fare. Owner Roland Passot knew it was time for some changes.
Moussy’s
Moussy’s
is a new friendly casual San Francisco French Restaurant that was named after the small village in the Champagne region of France. It is located on Bush near Polk, just downstairs from The Alliance Francaise which has French classes and events. The atmosphere is warm and inviting in this subterranean cool location!
The Entrée was absolutely fabulous. It was a Pepper Crusted filet of Wild King Salmon with giant peppercorns; pinot scented mustard, greens, smoked corn and pinot reduction.
The Plumed Horse
The new Plumed Horse is open once again in the quaint and Historic Village of Downtown Saratoga. Their Contemporary California cuisine is prepared using locally sourced, sustainable, seasonal fresh and luxury ingredients along with French techniques.
